About Me
We designed Ashram Yoga in order to assist spiritual seekers in their journey through the wondrous philosophy and tradition of yoga and ashram living. The path of spirituality is often times considered to be similar to “walking a razor’s edge” for good reasons; there are many ventures which one can take along the path towards self realization, but few of the avenues will truly assist the individual in obtaining the sanctuary of Truth. While this website will surely avoid any attempt to defining the “right” path, we do hope to assist ’seekers’ in their exploration of yoga and the Indian tradition, providing them with relevant and practical knowledge of the beauty of yoga and ashram living.
My personal experience with ashrams go as far back as 15 years ago when I visited my first ashram, the Yogananda ashram in California. Since then I have met many gurus throughout the world, discovering the diversity and intricacy of the practice of yoga. While I firmly believe in the devotion to one guru, I also know that life presents many teacher through which we can learn more about ourselves and our lives. Hence, while I would consider myself to have one guru, I am also a student of many teachers.
In my life I have met many gurus all who have taught me much about myself and my spirituality. Baba Hari Das, Babaji (California), Swami Rajananda (Himilchaya Pradesh), and Swami Mahadeva are all gurus I have studied with over the last 10 years. The most recent guru, Swami Tureyananda at the Tureya Ashram, has been my guiding light in my spiritual path, teaching me the secrets of the inner-life throught rishi yoga.
The pursuit of spirituality is one of the most trying paths one can take in life. We experience challenges within ourselves that we never imagined, and we are faced with choices that extend beyond our perceived limitations. However, as we progress within our practice we find an essence of life that retains a beauty unimaginable and life lessons that unfold deeper meaning and purpose into our daily existance.
May the blessing of yoga be with you!
